Role Overview

Apply your U.S. tax expertise to help improve next-generation AI systems. You will analyze sales and use tax laws, translate statutory requirements into precise evaluation criteria, and assess formal AI-generated interpretations for legal accuracy across multiple state jurisdictions and, at times, federal tax provisions. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret U.S. sales and use tax statutes and regulations, including individual subsections and occasional federal tax provisions.
• Create statute-grounded evaluation rubrics that break legal sections into discrete, testable requirements independent of the AI output.
• Classify requirements as critical, secondary, or minor according to their actual statutory importance.
• Review formal AI translations of tax law and determine pass or fail results against established rubrics.
• Verify the accurate treatment of conditions, thresholds, AND/OR logic, exceptions, and defined terms.
• Develop clear test scenarios, including edge cases, for failed criteria, specifying facts, dates, amounts, and expected outcomes.
• Identify discrepancies, statutory exceptions, and legitimate ambiguities in legal text.
• Submit structured written evaluations through a digital review platform.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license, Chartered Accountant designation, or experience as a U.S. tax attorney.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret tax statutes and regulations, beyond tax-return preparation.
• Strong understanding of legal logic, including conditions, thresholds, AND/OR structures, exceptions, and defined terms.
• Precise written communication skills, with criteria clear enough for another reviewer to reach the same conclusion.
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly for exception clauses and edge cases.
• Comfort delivering structured feedback through a digital review interface.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sales and use tax or broader state and local tax statutes.
• Experience across multiple state tax jurisdictions.
• Enrolled Agent designation or relevant federal tax experience for scenario-review work.
• Experience reviewing or validating AI-enabled or technology-driven tax content.
• Experience training teams or providing written feedback on legal or tax language.
• Interest in technology and tax compliance.

Work Terms

• Remote contract engagement.
• U.S.-based candidates only.

Compensation

$65 to $70 per hour.
